DAY 1. SATURDAY - CITY CENTER and NORTH ISLAND TOUR
For the Chios Island tour, we meet at 07:30 am at the Çeşme customs port on Saturday morning. After passport control, our pleasant journey in the azure of the Aegean begins at 09:20. Upon arriving at the port of Chios Island, after the entry procedures, we gather at our office and start to explore the hidden treasure of the Aegean, Chios Island. After visiting the APLOTERYA, the market of Chios, the MECİDİYE Mosque built by Sultan Abdulmecit, and VOUNAKİ SQUARE, which is the largest and busiest square of Chios, we will visit the CHIOS CASTLE, which was built in the Byzantine period and later became the administrative center of the island during the Genoese and Ottoman periods, and its Ottoman artifacts. Our first stop is the four windmills (TABAKİKA) by the sea, which are among the most important symbols of the island. The function of these historical windmills was to draw water to the leather processing tanneries (tabakika) that gave their name to the region. In recent years, it has been restored with the municipality's contribution and has become a must-see point for all tourists visiting the island. After our photo break here, we continue our tour. Our next stop is DASKALOPETRA, the area where the most famous poet of ancient Chios, Homer, contributed his works Iliad and Odyssey to world literature. It is a large rock that was turned into a school by his students in the 6th century BC. This beautiful spot will make you question the lifestyle and artistic understanding of thousands of years ago. We then take a lunch break in LANGADA, the cutest fishing village of the island. You will have the opportunity to taste traditional mezes and classic Greek dishes, as well as the freshest seafood in the traditional tavernas (restaurants) by the sea. On our return trip, we take a photo break at the AGİOS İSİDOROS Church, one of the symbolic points of the island. It is said that the story of the Mastic Gum begins with this saint. After this stop, we head to the hotel and have free time. If you wish, you can join an unforgettable Greek night by tasting traditional island dishes at dinner and enjoying Greek music and dances accompanied by "Bouzouki."
DAY 2. SUNDAY SOUTH ISLAND TOUR (MASTIHAHORIA- ARMOLIA-MESTA-PYRGI)
After breakfast, we will meet at the predetermined time in the hotel lobby and start our tour towards the southern villages of the island, which is home to the production of MASTIC GUM. Our first stop will be ARMOLİA village, famous for its handmade ceramics for hundreds of years, where we will take a short break to visit one of its famous ceramic workshops. Our next stop is MESTA, which has preserved its architectural structure the best among many medieval castle-villages on Chios Island. It takes us on a journey back to the 13th century when it was built. We navigate through its labyrinth-like backstreets to reach the village square and take a coffee break. After visiting the Taxiarchis Church, we leave the village. Our next village is PYRGİ, which is unique in the world for the geometric shapes on its houses. Our guide will provide us with detailed information about the technique called Ksista, which has been practiced for centuries since the Genoese. We then go to a tavern by the sea for lunch. Here, our guests can choose from a menu of various seafood and mezes. On the return trip, we bid farewell to you with beautiful memories from the port of Chios Island. Until we meet again on the next PSD Tour trip, we say goodbye to you.
